About Us

Employment Law Consultants Manchester
Our services are provided through Jo Hurd - a specialist Employment and HR Law consultant with considerable experience.

Jo previously practised as a specialist employment law solicitor for over 16 years.  She first gained her experience in national solicitors' practices, before moving to a large in-house environment, where she headed up the employment law team.  She has Chartered Membership of the CIPD and is based in the Greater Manchester area.

Jo has extensive experience of providing advice to a wide range of businesses and other organisations on all aspects of employment and HR law.  She is equally happy dealing with both large-scale strategic change projects (for example collective redundancy and TUPE situations) and/or individual issues such as contracts of employment, disciplinary/grievances issues and terminations of employment.

Jo decided to utilise her skills by setting up her own business as an employment law consultant, rather than continuing to practise as a solicitor.  She believes that her considerable experience, in both legal and commerical settings, can help businesses reach commercially realistic and pragmatic solutions to their workforce issues, enabling them to achieve their objectives, while still ensuring compliance with legal rights.

The Way We Work

We aim to get to know you and to work with you to understand your business and your strategic objectives, so we are best equipped to advise you appropriately.  We seek to establish and maintain an excellent working relationship with you - always endeavouring to exceed expectations when providing advice.  We aim to advise as promptly as possible, and will always discuss your timescales with you.

Costs

Our home-based model allows us the most flexibility to provide advice at highly competitive, cost effective rates, without compromising on quality.

We will discuss costs with you upfront.  Our preferred approach is to agree a fixed fee with you, but where the work is not appropriate for this, we will charge on an hourly or day rate, and give an estimate.  We are also able to agree a monthly retainer fee, where there is a requirement for small pieces of email or telephone advice on an ongoing basis.
